Audit guide
An audit is the first step in developing a Gender equality action plan. It sets the baseline for your organisation’s gender equality data.
An audit is also done as part of a Progress report. It compares your workforce and employee experience data with the data from your previous audit(s).
In a year when both a Gender equality action plan and Progress report are due, you only need to do one audit.
An audit involves:
- collecting workforce and employee experience data
- analysing the data
- in a progress reporting year, comparing this information to data in your previous audit(s)
- providing the results to us on the template provided.
Our guide, template and resources
On 1 May 2025, we will publish the 2025 audit guidance and templates.
The steps below will support you to do your audit when the new guidance is released.
- Read the guide. There are online, PDF or Word versions.
- Read our leading practice resources webpage.
- Collect and analyse your data. In a progress reporting year, compare the data with your previous audit(s).
- Submit your data on our workforce reporting template via the reporting platform.
Submission date
Your next audit is due 1 December 2025.
People matter survey data
If you do not have data from a People matter survey, you need to do a separate employee experience survey. You will need to submit this data to the reporting platform.
