Your organisation's gender equality obligations

Learn if your organisation has gender equality obligations or needs specific advice to meet them.

The Gender Equality Act 2020 applies to around 300 organisations with 50 or more employees. These organisations are called duty holders, (or ‘defined entities’ in the Act), and include:

  • public service bodies
  • public entities
  • special bodies
  • local councils
  • universities
  • Court Services Victoria
  • Office of Public Prosecutions.

Advice for specific industries

All duty holders have the same obligations. However, some industries have special circumstances that affect how they meet them. Find targeted advice for local councils, universities, Victorian public service entities and other public entities.
