This video is about the gender impact assessment (GIA) for the High-Intensity Outside School Hours Care Initiative. Edward Okulicz from the Department of Education shares his experience working on the GIA.
The program provides care for children with disabilities after school hours.
The GIA helped the team to get funding to expand the program to more specialist schools in Victoria. The GIA showed that the program supports women who care for children with disabilities. This helps women stay in the workforce. It also helps women working in the industry to advance their careers.
Edward encourages others to do GIAs as they can:
- sharpen your thinking
- challenge your assumptions
- focus your mind on those who benefit from your program
