Corangamite Shire Council conducted a gender impact assessment (GIA) on their infringements policy.
The GIA involved looking at data, doing research and talking to other teams. From this, they found that women are more likely to be responsible for registering animals and paying fines.
As a result, the council changed the policy to make sure it was fairer to women. They gave local law officers training on gender issues and family violence. This helps them better support women and people of all genders.
